Jan Proudfoot first learned about Infant Mental Health work through the CMH system in 1984. Jan participated in a grant to be trained in the model and received ongoing supervision and training sponsored by the (then) Michigan Department of Community Mental Health as she worked with families and their infants in rural northwest lower Michigan. Although the grant ended after three years, Jan’s interest did not. She has taken other opportunities over the years for further training and is currently an Infant Mental Health therapist at North Country CMH. North Country Community Mental Health provides services to residents of Antrim, Charlevoix, Cheboygan, Emmet, Kalkaska and Otsego Counties who are experiencing severe emotional problems, serious mental illness or intellectual/developmental disability, including individuals with a co-occurring substance use disorder.
